Proceeds benefiting @southfloridapba Love fund; Established in 1984, the Love Fund is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization that fills a special need: it aids fallen officers and their families when no other funds are available to do so. Any money collected by the Love Fund helps pay for the funerals of officers killed in the line of duty, education for the children of fallen officers and psychological counseling for officers and immediate family members impacted by the stress of the job. EMAIL OUR TEAM HERE SIGN UP HERE LEARN MORE VISIT FULL RESOURCE GUIDE Capital Improvement Projects Updates The Engineering and Construction Division is responsible for managing the design and construction of the projects in the city’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). These projects include traffic calming; drainage; roadways & infrastructure improvements; sewer distribution; sidewalks; and street lighting. Updates on ongoing projects can be found below: Septic to Sewer Update (Sub-Area K: Dante Fascell Community Building): Gravity pipe installation on SW 85 St is complete. The force main installation started on November 18, 2024, and is anticipated to be finalized by December 7, 2024, followed by pavement restoration. Estimated completion: April 18, 2025, weather permitting. Traffic Circle Update (SW 76 St & 61 Ave): The contractor is finalizing permits, utility clearance, and materials. Groundbreaking is anticipated this month, weather permitting. Road Resurfacing & Reconstruction FY25 Update: The City is undertaking road resurfacing and reconstruction, citywide. We are currently coordinating the schedule and will keep the community posted, accordingly. Join our Team Director of Public Works and Engineering Works under the general supervision of the City Manager. Exercises supervision over all Public Works and Engineering Department staff, the City’s consultants, and contractors for engineering/construction projects and activities. Performs professional administrative work in the directing and overseeing of the Department’s functions such as roads, sidewalks, rights-of-ways and public buildings, beautification, and capital improvement projects. Certified/Lateral Police Officer General police functions in the prevention of crime, protection of life and property, and apprehension of criminal offenders through the enforcement of laws and ordinances, and the maintenance of community order through the performance of numerous human services as well as providing general information and assistance to the public. Recreation Aide The City of South Miami, Parks & Recreation Department is seeking qualified applicants for a part time Recreation Aide. Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor II, the Recreation Aide assists in opening and readying the facility for general use, conducting recreation activities, facility rentals, collects fees, reports safety needs and interacts with the public regarding information requests. Grants Coordinator The Grants Coordinator position is responsible for advanced professional work in the coordination of grant initiatives for the City of South Miami. This position is responsible for performing various duties to coordinate City-wide grant initiatives, maximize grant funding opportunities, and assist City departments in the development of grant funding. Administrative Affairs Coordinator The Administrative Affairs Coordinator position is responsible for providing highly skilled and technical support to the Administrative Services Department, Office of the City Manager and Office of the Mayor and City Commission by performing advanced-level professional and administrative work. Maintenance Worker (TCD) The Maintenance Worker I position is responsible for performing repetitive manual and semi-skilled work, which does not require a high degree of experience, for example ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the City’s facilities, streets, and roads, with a primary focus on the Town Center District. This position involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including cleaning, painting, routine inspections of public facilities, repairs, and improvements to City-owned infrastructure. Responsibilities also include facility and street lighting maintenance, routine pressure cleaning, and addressing any safety hazards to enhance the appearance and safety of the Town Center District.
