Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa City Council, regional leaders, & many community members attended the Fair Oaks Recreation Complex (https://www.tampa.gov/news/2024-04/tampa-breaks-ground-state-art-east-tampa-recreation-complex-147171) groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction. The new recreation center is expected to open in Fall 2025, and the entire complex is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2026.

Heart of Hanna: Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day with your own cardboard art! On April 23 at 4 pm, local artist Michelle Sawyer will guide participants on how to turn used cardboard into exciting works of art. BYOC (bring your own cardboard) or use what is provided to create your original piece. 2024 Latinos Unidos Luncheon

Hosted by the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council, the Latinos Unidos Luncheon (https://www.tampa.gov/hispanic-advisory-council/latinos-unidos-luncheon) on May 8 from 12 pm – 1:30 pm is dedicated to opening new doors of opportunity for Latino youth in our community. It highlights the influence and economic impact of Hispanics in the United States with an inspiring keynote speaker and recognition of a community leader and focuses on raising scholarship dollars to remove critical barriers to postsecondary education for Latino youth.
