The City of Tampa is proud to host the Women's Final Four in Tampa’s Downtown for a record-breaking fourth time. From April 3-6, 2025, there will be several free community events (https://www.ncaa.com/womens-final-four) for residents and visitors to join the fun.

GET INVOLVED
Micromobility Corrals Survey

Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta

Featuring tasty treats from a variety of local vendors, the next Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta (https://www.tampasdowntown.com/events/mayors-food-truck-fiesta-24-243-847-650-862-945-373-685/?occurrence=2025-04-02) will be on April 2 in Lykes Gaslight Park from 11 am – 2 pm. Participating Food Trucks: Plavors, The Nacho Wagon, Mustard Seed BBQ, Casablanca Fusion, & Island Frydays Catering.

Rock the Park

On April 3 at 6:30 pm in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, enjoy free live music from Gringo Star, The Stone City, and June Bunch at Rock the Park (https://www.facebook.com/RockThePark) ! This monthly event is free and open to the public to attend. Food will be available for purchase from This Little Pig food truck.

Tampa Firefighters Annual Pediatric Burn Survivor 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

The Tampa Firefighters 2025 Pediatric Burn Survivor 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run (https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/Tampa/tampafirefighters) will be hosted on April 5. The event benefits Camp Hopetake, a week-long summer camp we host in Tampa for previously burned children of all ages. Camp Hopetake provides a safe and supportive environment for kids to share their feelings and interact with other young burn victims from all over Florida. The camp is free of charge to all the who attend. This non-threatening atmosphere allows them to enjoy activities including going to Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, Disneyworld, Adventure Island, swimming, bowling, fishing, games, crafts, movie, and more as they cope with the social and emotional scars associated with their injuries.

Ashley’s Eggsploration

Everybunny is invited to Eggsploration (https://www.tampasdowntown.com/events/tampas-downtown-eggsploration-2-824/?occurrence=2025-04-19) , Downtown Tampa’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt on April 19 from 9 am – 1 pm. There will be thousands of eggs to find, family-friendly fun, meet the Easter Bunny, and even a mimosa bar for parents. Volunteers are still needed – sign up online to help out (https://volunteersignup.org/DBHJL) .

Farm-to-No Food Waste

Celebrate Food Waste Prevention Week at Meacham Urban Farm at the Farm-to-No Food Waste Event (https://www.tampa.gov/events/farm-no-food-waste/165641) on April 12 from 8 am – 2 pm. Attendees will learn how local efforts are preventing food waste in our community, take a farm tour, buy local produce, and even win prizes.

21st Annual Tampa Bay Fair Housing Symposium

The City of Tampa Office of Human Rights is participating in the Annual Tampa Bay Fair Housing Symposium (https://calendar.tamparealtors.org/events/9781968) , bringing together housing professionals, legal experts, and advocates to address critical fair housing topics and promote equality in housing practices. Attendees will explore legal updates, fraud prevention, technology’s role in fair housing, and actionable insights for real estate professionals and community leaders. The event will be hosted on April 23 at the Brown & Kimpton Auditorium (4590 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, FL).

Mark Your Calendar: Tampa Riverfest

The annual Tampa Riverwalk Riverfest (https://www.tampa.gov/events/tampa-riverfest-presented-publix-super-markets/164216) is a two-day, free festival that spans the entire length of the Riverwalk including several parks and features family-friendly activities and events showcasing Tampa's cultural institutions, local musicians and restaurants. Riverfest will take place on May 2-3 this year.

The Development & Growth Management Division is hiring a Professional Plans Review Supervisor (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?b=&R1=250313&R2=267500&R3=002) to oversee plan review assignments related to residential & commercial construction projects for compliance with building & site codes. Applicants must have a Standard Building Plans Examiner license as issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board and one Standard Trade (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) Plans Examiner licenses or FEMA Floodplain Management Certificate or a Florida Registered Architect or Engineer.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Meet Taurus Gadsden, a Building Maintenance Supervisor at the Tampa Convention Center. He has worked for the City of Tampa for six years and his favorite part of the job is seeing the success of events, from start to finish. Taurus is dedicated to constantly growing as a professional. He recently earned the Certified Venue Professional designation from the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), which demonstrates superior knowledge and commitment toward venue management.

What do you like to do in your free time? During my free time, I love spending time with my kids and puppy. I enjoy their company so very much.

What is your favorite place in Tampa? My favorite place in Tampa is Cypress Point Beach. This place is so relaxing and chill. I enjoy watching the planes coming in for the landing.

What is your favorite meal to cook? My favorite meal is fried chicken and mashed potatoes, this is a meal that reminds me of my grandmother.

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation is to river-cruise in Europe. I would like to visit many European counties via river cruise. This would allow me to immerse myself into the different cultures.

What reality show would you want to be on? Alone (on History Channel). This will give me a chance to experience the outdoor life at a very high level. I dream of being stranded out in the woods, surviving to the best of my ability.

What’s your favorite holiday? Christmas. Christmas holidays are a time of year where it seems that a majority of society is happy.
SPECIAL FEATURE

The Tampa Convention Center is the venue for the NCAA Women’s Final Four Tourney Town, a free fan festival April 3-6. It is expected to draw 40,000 guests and an estimated economic impact of $25 million to the community.
