EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Meet Nina M. Acevedo, a Site Supervisor II in the Parks and Recreation Department. She has worked for the City of Tampa for over 17 years and she loves that no day is the same in her role. “One day, you can be creating a piece of art with the kids, another day you are working a Gasparilla, another day you can work Derek Jeter's Turn 2 Baseball Clinic, watch Dr. Deliah Autry coach her Camp 13 Girl's Flag Football Clinic, and work a ribbon cutting event for a new facility,” she said.

What do you like to do in your free time? Anything outdoors with my family is my absolute favorite thing. Spending the day at the beach on Anna Maria Island, hiking different State Parks, or running around the hub grass at Disney.

What’s your favorite shop in Tampa? The Florida Bakery is a staple. I can order cafe con leche with cuban toast for breakfast and come back for lunch and order a media noche. And if I am wanting a little snack I can pick up a few pastelitos de carne!

Where is your dream vacation? Japan. It is an incredible island with rich history, beautiful culture, and delicious food. It has been our dream to visit Japan during Cherry Blossom Season and of course visit Disneyland and DisneySea.

What are you binging on Netflix right now? I watch The Chef Show on repeat. John Favreau and Roy Choy have created a wonderful show with so many impressive and talented chefs.

What’s your favorite holiday? It would definitely be Christmas. There is a magical energy that comes with the Christmas season that we love. And now that we have a little one we get to experience the Christmas Season through her eyes.
