SMPD is Proud to Announce Crime Reduction for 2024 Crime in our city decreased by 21% compared to the previous year, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our officers. Simultaneously, arrests increased by 9%, demonstrating our department’s commitment to bringing offenders to justice. Additionally, our clearance rate—which measures how effectively we resolve cases—rose to 40%, marking a 7.5% increase from the previous year.
