EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Meet Lorraine Eden, a Customer Service Representative I in the Parks & Recreation Department. She has worked for the City of Tampa for 16 years and she is known around the office for her love of holiday décor and cheery personality. Her favorite part of the job is when she helps repeat customers every year and can catch up. For example, some call to book their child’s birthday picnic again and exclaim “Oh, Lorraine, I was hoping you’d still be there, you helped me the last time I reserved a shelter!”

What do you like to do in your free time? I spend most of my free time tending to my numerous flowering plants in our yard. About 6 years ago, I brought home 2 common milkweed plants and now have a thriving Monarch Butterfly Garden. Watching the caterpillars and butterflies is so delightful and reminds me of God’s beautiful works each and every day.

Who is your favorite music artist? I am a Little Monster. I adore Lady Gaga as an artist and performer and have attended 2 of her concerts to date.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? The Columbia Restaurant never disappoints. It’s always a treat to visit due to it’s history, architecture, the cuisine but mostly the warm bread and yummy butter!

What’s the craziest thing you see on the job? In the shelter office, we see lots of crazy things but I must say clients pulling their cash out of their bra ranks the most crazy and dreaded.

What’s your favorite holiday? All holidays are enjoyable to me, but Christmas tops the list. First, we celebrate the Birth of my Savior, Jesus. Then there’s the excitement of the music, the décor, the special foods, the gift-giving, and the endless colorful Christmas outfits I can wear the entire month of December!
