EXPLORE OUR APP HERE Parks and Recreation LEARN MORE REGISTER HERE Police Department South Miami PD FDOT Grants The South Miami Police Department is enhancing public safety along the US 1 Corridor (SW 57th Ave to SW 80th St) through a partnership with the Institute of Police Training & Management at the University of North Florida and the Florida Department of Transportation. Running from August 2024 to May 2025, this initiative focuses on pedestrian and bicycle safety through education and enforcement, with officers patrolling on overtime. As part of this effort, bicycle lights will be distributed to those in need to improve visibility and reduce accidents. Additionally, in November 2024, the department secured a $30,000 FDOT grant to combat speeding and aggressive driving. These funds will support officer overtime for targeted enforcement, guided by bi-weekly traffic crash data analysis. The initiative also includes community education to promote safer driving habits. Through these efforts, the South Miami Police Department remains committed to creating a safer environment for all road users. Join our Team Construction & Design Project Manager The construction & Design Project Manager position leads the City's construction and design efforts, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality capital projects within budget and schedule. This role is hands-on, results-oriented with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse portfolio of projects within a $3-million annual construction budget, and the implementation of a General Obligation Bond and involvement in private sector development projects within the City. SoMi District Ambassador The SoMi District Ambassador is a “hybrid” position, requiring a unique blend of marketing expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to community safety and engagement. Serves as liaison between the City and the local business community, while also working closely with the City’s Police, Public Works and Code Enforcement Departments to ensure the overall well-being of the community. Recreation Leader The Recreation Leader is responsible for clerical work and is the lead for programs, events, athletics and activities, including supervision of facilities, equipment, and supplies. Park Ranger The Park Ranger position is responsible for performing non-sworn entry level duties related to the safety and security of sites within the Parks and Recreation Department. The Park Ranger will work closely with the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation or his/her designee. This position performs a wide variety of tasks in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and patrol of the City Parks and related facilities. This incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of parks and patrons in a fast-paced environment. . Lifeguard I The Lifeguard I position performs skilled water-safety work involved in the operation of the City’s Aquatics Facility. The Lifeguard I position is safety-sensitive, ensuring the safety of patrons in and around the City’s pools, monitoring swimmers and enforcing all safety rules.
