Food Waste Prevention Week Event

Join the City of Tampa Recycling team at New World Tampa (810 E Skagway Ave) on April 6 from 3 pm – 6 pm (https://www.tampa.gov/events/food-waste-no-such-thing/146346) to learn about food waste prevention, composting, and more. There will be educational sessions, giveaways, games, and more.

Water Conservation Celebration

Kick off Water Conservation Month with the City of Tampa on the great lawn outside the City Center at Hanna Avenue building (2555 East Hanna Ave) on April 5 between 11 am – 2 pm. Support local food trucks and connect with experts from the City's Water Department to learn about spotting indoor leaks, Florida-Friendly Landscaping, and understanding your water use.

Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway

Tampa residents are invited to Mayor Jane's Tree Giveaway on April 13 from 9 am - 11 am. This special initiative seeks to enrich our community's green spaces and promote sustainability. Tampa Kind Bike Rodeo

The City of Tampa is hosting the Tampa Kind Bike Rodeo (https://www.tampa.gov/events/tampa-kind-bike-rodeo/146051) at Copeland Park (11001 N. 15th St) on April 6 from 9 am – 12 pm. This free event is an opportunity for kids and their families to brush-up on the do's and don'ts of bicycle safety. The Tampa Police Department will conduct a bicycle skills course on the park’s basketball court. Kids will learn safety techniques such as stopping, obstacle avoidance, and signaling. Safety course participants will get fitted for their very own bicycle helmet, while supplies last. Spin, a micro-mobility rideshare company, will offer adults the chance to test ride an electric bicycle (e-bike). New eBike Rules

Starting today (April 1), riders must park their shared eVehicles in docking stations or face an out-of-hub fee. Leaving them stranded around the city will no longer be an option! These new rules (https://mailchi.mp/12bab1a84e52/dont-be-an-april-fool-follow-the-new-escooter-rules?e=9d00a04676) will ensure sidewalk space remains open & improve safety.


Mayor’s Neighborhood University Saturday Sessions: Housing Resource Community Fair

Class is in session! On April 13 from 9 am – 12 pm, join the next Saturday Session (https://www.tampa.gov/community-partnerships/neighborhoods/mayors-neighborhood-university) to access programs and resources geared toward providing safe and stable housing during this free, "mini" housing fair hosted by the City's Housing and Community Development team. Existing and potential homeowners, renters, and those in need of housing will have an opportunity to meet with the Housing team in addition to other resource partners. Learn about the City's Healthy Homes Program, down payment assistance options, upcoming single family and multi-family developments, and much more at this interactive event.

The Wastewater Department is hiring an Environmental Specialist III (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?b=&R1=240318&R2=520300&R3=001) to plan, organize and coordinate the performance of diversified & specialized biological and chemical studies and research projects. These include scientific field and laboratory tests and analyses in connection with the treatment of wastewater and the effects of wastewater effluent on receiving waters.

Meet James Malcolm, a Convention Services Manager at the Tampa Convention Center. He has worked for the City of Tampa for over five years, and he always enjoys experiencing new events and clients. While there are many repeat events, new clients keep the job dynamic and interesting, with new challenges around every corner.

What do you like to do in your free time? Outside of work, you’ll likely find me in the gym. Last year I transitioned from body building to CrossFit and have been loving the new challenges presented every day.

What’s your favorite restaurant/shop in Tampa? Got to be Chill Bros Scoop Shop! My wife and I go every Monday for hospitality night. It is by far the best ice cream in town!

What's your favorite meal to cook? The one with the least dishes. Hatfield Pre-marinated Pork Loin and Sweet Potato dusted with salt, pepper, and cinnamon on 2 baking sheets with foil in the oven and frozen broccoli in the microwave. Easy meal prep!

Who’s your favorite music artist? Luke Combs in the car, Drake in the house, and El Alpha in the gym! I listen to a diverse but mainstream set of music that changes based on what I am doing or how I am feeling.

What's your dream vacation? Space. I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut, and one day, space tourism will be widely available. For now though, I am going with my wife to Italy this year!
