EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Meet Nick An, an Engineer III in the Mobility Department. He has worked for the City of Tampa for over four years, and enjoys that in his role in designing traffic signal timings, he can help improve roadway safety and the efficiency of traffic flow. Even just a small traffic signal timing change can considerably improve the traffic flow - which can profoundly help thousands of motorists every day.

What is the craziest thing you’ve seen on the job? It was February 7, 2021, at Super Bowl 55, when I was in the Tampa Traffic Management Center for the event traffic management. It was an astonishing moment when I saw the thousands of Bucs fans flooded the City streets to celebrate Super Bowl victory as the Bucs won over the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

What is your favorite shop in Tampa? My favorite shop place is MD Oriental Market. There are three MD Oriental Market stores in the Tampa area, and it provides a wide range of international produce, particularly, Asian groceries, vegetables, and fresh sea foods.

What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation place is Iceland. I wanted to see auroras and learned that the northern lights are visible in Iceland more than seven months, and during that period you can see them pretty much at anywhere.

What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Home Alone. My family watched Home Alone I and II again during the past holiday time. I like Home Alone because it shows the humor and heartwarming moments, the family bonds, and the spirit of Christmas.

SPECIAL FEATURE
Did you know that the Tampa Convention Center is an award-winning facility? In just 2023, the TCC team won four national awards & achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation, the gold standard for prepared facilities.
