EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Happy Building Safety Month! This May, we're highlighting our staff that ensure our city is built from safe and sustainable structures:
Meet Robert Ritter, a Construction Inspector III in the Development & Growth Management Division. He has worked for the City of Tampa for seventeen years and he loves that he is able to help so many people in his position.
What is something unique about your job that others wouldn’t know? It's definitely what one would think of when you think of a government job. I've had contractors say, "I wish I had your job!" I always reply, "I wish you did too, so you can actually see what we have to deal with." In my 17 years, I have never gone home full of energy. There are a lot of mental and physical parts of doing this work. We wear many hats, whether it’s an ambassador to the citizens, a teacher for contractors and tradesmen, a construction inspector, a site inspector, a mediator, etc.
What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? People will probably disagree, but La Segunda. There is no Cuban sandwich made better unless it is homemade.
What is your dream vacation and why? My dream vacation is actually happening this summer. Alaskan cruise. I've been to 19 countries on 5 different continents, but I've never been to Alaska.
What are your binging on Netflix? Not Netflix at the moment, but HBO. I'm going through the seasons of the Soprano's again.
What reality show would you want to be on? Life is my reality show.
