Tampa Fire Rescue, Mayor Jane Castor, and Tampa City Council announced the addition of eight new, state-of-the-art emergency response vehicles added to the City of Tampa fleet. This significant upgrade includes three new fire engines, three new rescue cars, and two new Ambu-buses, all equipped with the latest technology to better serve and protect our community.

eBike Voucher Program

The eBike Voucher Program (http://www.tampa.gov/ebike) is back – providing Tampa residents with an opportunity to receive between $1,000 - $3,000 in a purchase discount toward purchasing a new eBike. The program seeks to help residents overcome some of the existing barriers to eBike ownership, but also provide access to reliable transportation to jobs, promote sustainable transportation, and improve the City’s carbon footprint. Applications will be accepted from March 1 – 15.

Join the City of Tampa and some participating local bike shops for an opportunity to test an eBike. Helmets and waivers to ride the bicycles will be available on site:

March 1 from 5 pm – 7 pm: Ragan Park (1200 E. Lake Ave)
March 5 from 5 pm – 7 pm: Al Lopez Park (4810 N. Himes Ave)
March 13 from 5 pm – 7 pm: Copeland Park (11001 N. 15th St.)
March 14 from 5 pm – 7 pm: Ballast Point Park (5300 Interbay Blvd.)

Senior Day in the Park

Tampa seniors are invited to attend the annual Senior Day in the Park (https://www.tampa.gov/sites/default/files/events/attachments/2024/city_of_tampa_senior_day_in_the_park_flyer_1.pdf) event, to enjoy activities like free food, vendors, games, entertainment, one-mile walk, raffles and more. It will take place at MacFarlane Park (1801 N Lincoln Ave) on March 1 from 9:30 am – 1 pm.

27th Annual Women’s History Month Celebration

Please join Mayor Jane Castor for the 27th Annual Women's History Month Celebration (https://www.tampa.gov/womens-history-month-celebration) on March 5 at 10:30 am, including a presentation of the Josephine Howard Stafford Memorial Award (https://www.tampa.gov/womens-history-month-celebration/about-us/josephine-stafford-award?fbclid=IwAR0eYHbaQPbVZC3B8qIqxeQ61eob-LCd85W47wQToPQusIhudySl0JdxAlQ) to Ocea Wynn, Administrator of Neighborhood and Community Affairs.

Tampa Soulwalk Cookbook Call for Recipes

The deadline to submit a recipe in the Tampa Soulwalk Cookbook (https://www.tampa.gov/soulwalk) is February 29. Put the final garnish on your favorite dish and submit now for a chance to be featured.

EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant

Do you know of a property within the City of Tampa that has the potential for reuse or development? With funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield Assessment Grant, the City of Tampa is working to safely clean up and sustainably reuse these contaminated properties, making them re-developable and more marketable. Current & future Tampa property owners are encouraged to learn more about this program & apply here (https://www.tampa.gov/solid-waste/brownfields) by August 31.

Vote for the 3Rs Art & Poetry Contest Winners

Help us choose the best 3Rs Art & Poetry Contest (https://www.tampa.gov/3Rs) poems & art, submitted by local K-12 students. This program engages our youth in environmental stewardship while encouraging recycling & waste reduction.

Alert Tampa CERT Basic Training

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program that trains citizens to be prepared for and respond to emergencies that may arise in their community. In the event of a major disaster such as a hurricane, emergency services personnel can initially become overwhelmed leaving citizens on their own. CERT training enables citizens to help themselves and their neighbors by applying the basic response and organizational skills during an emergency. Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) Community Input Meetings

On March 12 at 6 pm, join the City of Tampa Planning Department at the City Center at Hanna Avenue (2555 E. Hanna Ave) to discuss the future of Accessory Dwelling Units in our city.

East Tampa CRA Summer Youth Program

The East Tampa CRA Summer Youth Program (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?b=&R1=240208&R2=008290&R3=002&fbclid=IwAR04kW3ZhtpdjKpNJIBrKMgim8comsSvgo49S1FeBzT96aCk7_E9C_SdFQs) is now accepting applications! Students ages 16-19 can receive paid, hands-on experience through this internship program. Participants must be enrolled in a Hillsborough County school and live in zip codes 33602, 33603, 33604, 33605, 33610, or 33619.

Student Online Safety Forum

On February 29 at 6 pm at Middleton High School, join Hillsborough County Public Schools, law enforcement, the FBI, and community partners for a free, important discussion (https://www.tampa.gov/events/student-online-safety-and-human-trafficking-awareness/135236) aimed at keeping our children safe online. Sensitive information will be discussed regarding social media, bullying, gaming, and human trafficking.

Mayor's Neighborhood University Saturday Session

Every month community members will have an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the city operates in a fun and interactive way. The March Saturday Session is "On the Road with Code" (https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=cwOdjZFctEWQWxL-kYy2KPXOnKEgtHNJiMe20_CF7K1UMDIyVjUzRklaQzNWVEtJSVBOTjRHWlJZVS4u) , where participants can gain an understanding of how Code Enforcement operates and the various teams this department manages. Class will be in session will be on March 9 from 9 am - noon.

Gasparilla Festival of the Arts

What is your favorite restaurant in Tampa? I really enjoy going to Maggiano’s. I enjoy the GOOD food and atmosphere.

What is your favorite meal to cook? Steak. Because I can cook them the way I like.

What is your dream vacation? To visit Italy and see where my family came from.
