EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Meet Alfredo Garcia, an Electrician within the Tampa Water Department. He has worked for the City for 10 years. He began his City of Tampa career as a Technician I for the Wastewater Department and moved to the David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility in 2017. He loves that his position allows him to do what he loves, putting his training and knowledge from school into practice.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? My favorite restaurant is Carrabba’s. My wife loves it. Since I’ve been there, I also fell in love with it too.

What’s your favorite movie? I have several favorite movies. I loved the “Passion of the Christ” because it was a movie that really touched me. I also love movies that motivate me to keep going. When I was young it was movies like “Rambo” and “Conan.” The main characters always had some mission that they needed to accomplish, and they never gave up.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever been given? “Never let anyone underestimate you.” My father told me there are two things that people can’t ever take from you: knowledge and experience. Educate yourself, gain experience, and that will help you be effective in life.

What is your favorite meal to cook and why? I love to cook chicken tacos. I’m from Mexico and I learned how to make them from my mom. My kids love it. When I cook, they know I’m going to make chicken tacos.
