SAY HELLO TO THE LITTLE SKIMMER
Look out, there's a new skimmer in town! Our Solid Waste Department just launched the “Little Skimmer”, an addition to our litter skimming program that will help our team access harder-to-reach areas, like seawalls, mangroves, and shallow edges. Since 2023, the larger Litter Skimmer has removed more than 94,000 pounds of debris.

Pride with the Police

On July 23 from 9 am – 10:30 am at Chef & the Baker South Tampa (3412 S Manhattan Ave), join the Tampa Police Department for coffee and conversations at Pride with the Police (https://www.tampa.gov/events/pride-police/170611) . Attendees can meet the Tampa Police LGBTQ Liaison, join the Safe Place Initiative, connect with local business leaders, and have open conversations about safety concerns.

Back-2-School Health Clinic

Registration is now open for the Back-2-School Health Clinics (https://www.back2schoolhealthclinic.org/) . Families can schedule appointments for no-cost school physicals, routine immunizations, and immunization record updates required for school enrollment. These services are available to uninsured and Medicaid-enrolled students entering Hillsborough County Public or Charter Schools. Don’t wait — secure your child’s appointment today (required) to ensure they are ready and eligible for the first day of school.

Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday

Florida's 2025 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday (https://floridarevenue.com/backtoschool/) is from August 1-31. Stock up TAX-FREE on items like notebooks, pens/pencils, clothing under $100, and more.

Shelby Saunders
Meet Shelby Saunders, a GIS Technician in the Mobility Division. She has worked for the City of Tampa for almost 1 year. She enjoys that her position gives her the opportunity to be creative. "GIS can use elements of graphic design to present data in a beautiful way. I love creating custom Basemaps in the Vector Tile Style Editor," she said.

What's your dream vacation? Transylvania! Particularly, I’d love to stay in the Sighișoara Citadel, a medieval citadel built in the 12th century. It’s also the birthplace of the real-life Dracula!

What reality show would you want to be on? Beast Games. He gives out money left and right, I don’t need the grand prize.

Where’s your favorite place in Tampa? Purity Springs Park. It’s a hidden gem.

What are you binging on Netflix right now? The first season of Seinfeld.

What’s your favorite music artist? Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie. Ben and I actually share a birthday! Check out Something about Airplanes; it’s a little moodier and emo than his current stuff.
