City Events SoMi Community Clean-Up REGISTER HERE Join Us for the SoMi Community Clean-Up! 🌎✨ In celebration of the 40th Annual International Coastal Cleanup Day, we’re partnering with VolunteerCleanup.org to keep SoMi beautiful—because protecting our neighborhoods is just as important as preserving our beaches! Volunteers will help clean Marshal Williamson Park, Murray Park, and the SoMi District. All supplies will be provided, plus Community Service hours for students. Officers from across several agencies came together to train, sharpen their skills, and ensure safer roadways for our community. This specialized training reinforces accurate speed enforcement, helping to keep drivers and pedestrians safe. A big thank you to all the participating agencies and instructors Santiago “ Sonny” Cruz & Luis Taborda for making this course a success! SMPD celebrates Grandparents Day with music and dancing The South Miami Senior Center hosted a party to celebrate “Grandparents Day” over the weekend. The annual holiday, which fell on Sunday, celebrates the love between a grandparent and their grandchild along with the significant role they play. Neighbors and grandparents gathered with city leaders, including the South Miami Police Department to enjoy the day and dance it away. Stay tuned as we will be releasing a PSA for Elderly Fraud! City Resources & Services Now Open: Hurricane Parking Garage Program Enrollment As hurricane season is upon on, the City of South Miami is now accepting applications for the Hurricane South Miami Parking Garage Program. This program allows residents, monthly parking pass holders, and City employees to park one vehicle per household/employee in the South Miami Parking Garage (5829 SW 73rd Street) during a hurricane. To participate, simply click the Enroll Now button below and submit proof of residency or employment. Once approved, you'll receive instructions for garage access during a Hurricane Watch. A little shy and unsure at first, Lucas is still learning how to play with other dogs, but once he warms up, his gentle and goofy side shines bright—making him the perfect match for anyone who’s ever felt a little awkward themselves. 🐶💖 And say hello to Morticia (#A2702165)! 🐾 This soft-hearted 4-year-old Fila mix is calm, loyal, and happiest when she’s spending time with people. While she gets along well with other dogs, her favorite thing is simply being by your side. Join our Team Recreation Aide The Recreation Aide position is responsible for assisting the Recreation Leader in a variety of planned recreational programs and events at the City parks, such as outdoor sporting events, games and leisure activities. This position requires hands-on participation and oversight of activities involving groups of varying age ranges. Work is performed under the general direction of the Recreation Leader and is reviewed for accomplishment of objectives through results obtained, reports and conferences.
