Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta

The next Mayor’s Food Truck Fiesta will be hosted in Lykes Gaslight Park on July 2 from 11 am – 2 pm. Participating Trucks: The Bacon Boss Food Truck, Mi Pizza Sou, Westchase BBQ, Dat Dope Kitchen, and Cool & Creamy.

Rock the Park

On July 3 at 6:30 pm, Rock the Park returns to Curtis Hixon Park with live entertainment from The Handlers, ¡SAMBA! By Mila Killa, and Philip Charos. There will be food available for purchase from local food truck vendors.

Boom by the Bay

Boom by the Bay 2025 (https://www.tampa.gov/events/boom) will encompass The Heights District Fourth of July Celebration at Armature Works, Star Spangled Sparkman Wharf and the Friends of the Tampa Riverwalk July 4th Boat Parade along the Hillsborough River. Note: There will be no fireworks or activities in Julian B. Lane Park this year – the City of Tampa encourages residents to enjoy the many family-friendly festivities along the Tampa Riverwalk.

Job of the Week

The Legal Department is hiring an Assistant City Attorney I (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?b=&R1=250605&R2=807201&R3=001) to assist the City Attorney in providing legal representation to the Mayor, the City Council, and all the several departments, officers, and boards of city government.

Meet Arrena Houston, a Contract Monitor in the Logistics & Asset Management Division. She has worked for the City of Tampa for over thirteen years. She loves that her current role works closely with other departments and applies her experiential knowledge gained.

What's your favorite restaurant in Tampa? My favorite restaurant is Salt Shack, located right by the water in view of the bridge off W Tyson Ave. The atmosphere is simply beautiful, especially at night, and the food is delicious. On certain nights, you can dance to the music performed by a live band.

Who's your favorite music artist? My favorite artist at the moment is Forrest Frank; he is a Christian singer who writes very meaningful and motivational songs.

What’s your favorite meal to cook? My favorite meal to cook is baked chicken wings, string beans, and yellow rice. I like cooking this meal because it's quick and fulfilling, and my grandma passed down her secret on cooking the best baked chicken in the world, super tender and flavorful.

What are you reading right now? I am currently reading a book called “Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.

What’s your dream vacation? My dream vacation is a trip to Bali. I would like to take my daughter there, spend time with the natives, learn their culture, and ride an elephant in the water.
