Explore the expansive career of revered American writer Joan Didion in the art exhibit Joan Didion: What She Means, on display at the Pérez Art Museum Miami from July 13, 2023 through January 7, 2024. Curated by writer and New Yorker contributor Hilton Als, the exhibit commemorates Didion's life and work with contributions from approximately 50 notable artists that include Betye Saar, Vija Celmins, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Maren Hassinger, Silke Otto-Knapp, Ana Mendieta, Ed Ruscha, and Pat Steir, among many others. The more than 200 objects and artworks include family heirlooms, paintings, ephemera, photographs, sculptures, videos, and footage from a number of the films for which Didion authored screenplays.
